American Splendor is a kind of movie which is to be watched alone or with an individual who appreciates the essence of art. The movie is actually a biography of an ordinary man who lives a very frugal life in Cleveland (a small place is USA). Paul Giamatti plays Harvey Pekar who's the central character.
He works as file clerk at a hospital and leads a very disturbed life. He's a looser in most ways and his only hobby is collecting records and comic books. Harvey is a very boring personality and is always able to find complexity in his daily tasks.
The movie is interesting in a peculiar way but not entertaining; it still has got something which will make you relate to this person in one way or the another. The director has attempted to create a biography where he's surely succeeded.. would you be interested in a nobody's biography?.. that is the question!.
