Eamonn Holmes is stable after suffering a stroke, his son Declan Holmes has said, describing his father's condition as 'doing OK' and noting the family is taking things one step at a time as they focus on steady progress in hospital.
A GB News statement confirmed he was in hospital last week and is responding well to treatment. The channel said Holmes remains a much-loved part of the GB News family and pledged to support him and his relatives as they navigate what lies ahead.
Holmes, 66, is a veteran breakfast TV presenter who has lived with health challenges in the past, including spinal surgery and a hip replacement, and has often spoken about the difficulties of mobility.
On Sunday, Holmes posted on Instagram thanking followers for the many good wishes and shared a photo of his two granddaughters, one of whom is holding a sign reading get well soom [sic]. Declan said what happened was a real shock and asked for privacy while the family navigates what comes next.
The family's message emphasised that they would value a bit of privacy as they navigate the road ahead, but they also thanked well-wishers for their support, which has meant a lot to dad and the rest of the family.
Holmes was born in Northern Ireland and rose to prominence across Sky News and ITV before joining GB News in 2022 to host the breakfast programme.
