Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed rallies in Barpeta, Hojai, and Dibrugarh, urging voters in Assam to keep Congress away from power to ensure continued peace and development. He framed the choice as a vote for progress under a BJP-NDA government, stressing that development must reach every area and community, including tribal regions. He highlighted women’s empowerment as a key outcome of the current leadership and argued that a double-engine government has strengthened this trajectory.
Modi asserted that the Congress has historically sung to Pakistan’s tunes, prioritizing its own agenda over real welfare, especially for tribal communities. He pointed to the insurgency that affected the northeast, claiming more than a thousand lives are lost each year, and said such violence resulted from what he called a “bloody game” of politics followed by Congress. By contrasting this with the NDA’s approach, he claimed that peace deals were made with honesty and that peace in Assam came only after sacrifices and steady commitments.
The prime minister contended that the northeastern region is celebrating a festival of peace today due to targeted development and the establishment of permanent peace, attributing this to the NDA government’s focus on tribal areas and sustained implementation of peace agreements. He argued that the support of women has fueled the momentum of the BJP-NDA in the state, and he urged voters to maintain this momentum for continued peace and development.
Throughout his remarks, Modi linked development to stability, insisting that the best way to safeguard peace is to empower communities, deliver on promises, and reject past politics that he says left tribal families deprived after decades of rule. He concluded by appealing for a decisive mandate in Assam ahead of the 2026 assembly elections to keep the region on a path of peace and progress.
