Ladakhi activist Sonam Wangchuk says he was detained under NSA and kept in jail without communication with his family or legal team for almost ten days, describing the ordeal as being bundled and thrown into jail.

In his first remarks after release, he emphasised that both government and people must be flexible in their demands, adding that talks are a give-and-take process and that unnecessary prolonging of dialogue would hamper meaningful conversation.

He framed the release as a relief and a potential stepping stone for constructive engagement, calling it a win-win that could help rebuild trust for talks at the central level. He also noted the longer detention but refrained from sharing personal horror stories, focusing instead on moving toward meaningful dialogue.

He said the Centre has extended a hand that could lead to a win-win-win outcome, signaling a potential shift toward dialogue that Ladakh can trust. This development comes as activists and officials watch closely how talks progress and whether flexible, constructive engagement can pave the way for durable solutions.

As Ladakh continues to seek a balanced path forward, Wangchuk’s comments underscore a desire for dialogue built on mutual concessions and sincere dialogue from both sides.
