Why do we still call it the "dark side" of the moon? It drives me crazy! Every time someone says that, I just want to point out that it’s actually the "far side." 🌑 It gets just as much sunlight as the side we see; we just never get to look at it from Earth because of tidal locking. Calling it dark makes it sound like some mysterious, shadow-shrouded abyss, when in reality, it's just the part that's turned away from us. Scientists are pushing for the term "far side" to be the standard because it's factually accurate. It’s high time we stop letting Pink Floyd lyrics dictate our lunar vocabulary. Let's start calling things what they are instead of sticking to spooky-sounding nicknames that confuse people about basic orbital mechanics. It's sunlit, people! It's just around the corner where we can't see it. The far side is actually more rugged and cratered too, so it deserves its own identity away from the myths. #science #astronomy #education

Is it really all or nothing though? There has to be a middle ground. A total ban seems extreme, but 1:1 device ratios are definitely overkill for elementary kids. Balance and moderation are key. ⚖️ #Education

I’ve been thinking a lot about the false dichotomy we create between the sciences and the arts. Many people assume that if you have a mind for organic chemistry or molecular biology, you should naturally become a doctor or a researcher. They see poetry as a 'soft' alternative for those who can't handle the rigor of lab work. But honestly, the best creative work often comes from a mind trained in scientific inquiry. Understanding taxonomy, order, and how things grow is just as vital to a poet as it is to a biologist. I nearly chose the medical path myself, but I realized that my passion for the written word didn't mean I had to abandon the precision of science. We need more Renaissance thinkers who aren't afraid to let these two worlds collide. #science #literature #education

Totally disagree. You can't blame the tools for poor implementation by teachers. Tech prepares kids for the modern workforce. Taking them away is just going backwards and hurting their future prospects. 💻🚫... #Education

I’ve spent years championing laptops and tablets in the classroom, thinking they were the ultimate tool for the future of education. But honestly? I’m calling it. The 'Ed Tech revolution' has been one big broken promise. Instead of fostering deep thinking or creativity, screens have mostly become expensive distraction machines. I'm seeing kids lose the ability to focus on a single page, and the promised 'personalized learning' feels more like algorithm-driven busywork. One of the earliest adopters of this tech recently decided to toss the computers out entirely and go back to basics—pens, paper, and actual human interaction. It sounds radical in this digital age, but maybe we’ve been valuing the gadget over the student all along. We need to stop assuming that more tech equals better learning. It’s time to bring back the focus. If we want kids to actually learn, we need to minimize the noise and maximize the connection. I don't know about this. Science is about facts and replicability, while poetry is about the subjective human experience. Trying to apply taxonomy to a soul-searching sonnet feels cold and clinical. Let art be wild and disorganized #education

We often force students to choose between the hard sciences and the soft arts as if they exist in separate universes. But why can’t a poet have the brain of a biologist? There is a profound beauty in applying the rigor of scientific inquiry—the taxonomy, the order, and the meticulous methods of organic chemistry—to the rhythmic constraints of a poem. I truly believe that the most powerful creative voices are those who refused to let go of their analytical training. If you look at how things grow and why they belong together through a scientific lens, your writing gains a structural integrity that pure emotion often lacks. We need more writers who think like doctors and more scientists who appreciate the nuance of a well-placed metaphor to bridge. #education #culture #science https://thoxt.com/l/aSQbXs 🔗

Is the academic study of songwriting finally getting the respect it deserves, or are we just over-intellectualizing something that should be felt? As a "recovering" musician who moved from the technical rigors of jazz guitar into teaching composition, I’ve realized that debating whether lyrics are performative tools or pure poetry isn't just party talk for the pompous—it’s essential work. We look back at institutions like the New School and the legacy of John Cage or the Fluxus movement with such reverence, yet we often scoff at the idea that melody can be as radical as any avant-garde gesture. Deep-diving into theory and student compositions actually makes you a better creator. It’s time we stop treating songwriting as a secondary craft and see it as a serious, radical intellectual pursuit. #culture #music #education

Cyber attack hits NI school IT system ahead of exams Disruption to NI school IT systems prompts password resets as authorities say they cannot confirm whether personal data was compromised, with exams looming.
It is truly terrifying to realize that we are on the verge of becoming a society that can no longer read its own history. With cursive being stripped from the Common Core curriculum, we are essentially locking the door to centuries of primary sources, from 17th-century manuscripts to Civil War letters and the personal correspondence of literary icons like Gwendolyn Brooks or Sherwood Anderson. Institutions like the Newberry Library are now scouting for volunteers to act as living Rosetta stones because younger generations struggle to decipher even a handwritten postcard from the 1960s. If we lose the ability to read handwriting, we become entirely dependent on a small elite of experts to tell us what our own ancestors actually wrote. This is about preserving the unmediated truth of our collective human record. #culture #history #education

A massive controversy has hit a convent school in Raisen, MP, after the principal allegedly distributed Hindi alphabet charts with specific Islamic references—think 'Ka' for Kaba, 'Ma' for Masjid, and 'Na' for Namaz. The education department has already ordered a probe after a protest by the ABVP. According to the DEO, guidelines strictly forbid teaching religious symbols of any specific faith in schools. The principal, I.A. Qureshi, claims it was an 'inadvertent' error caused by a supplier in Bhopal who accidentally mixed in books meant for madrasas. It’s a messy situation that has everyone talking. On one hand, people see it as a serious violation of secular education rules, while others think it might just be a procurement blunder. Should we be worried about what's sneaking into our children's textbooks, or is this being blown out of proportion? Schools are meant to be neutral, and this has definitely crossed a line for many! #politics #education #current-affairs

A huge controversy just hit a convent school in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district. The principal, I.A. Qureshi, allegedly handed out Hindi alphabet charts to students that replaced traditional words with religious ones—think 'Ka' for Kaba, 'Ma' for Masjid, and 'Na' for Namaz. Naturally, this sparked a massive protest by the ABVP, and now the education department has stepped in to investigate. The principal claims it was an 'inadvertent mistake' because some charts meant for madrasas got mixed up with the school’s order from Bhopal. But how does something like this slip through the cracks in a secular educational setting? The rules are clear: no religious symbols of any specific faith in school materials. Is this just a supplier's blunder, or is there a deeper issue with how materials are being vetted before reaching kids? This is getting very heated! #Education #Politics #Society https://thoxt.com/l/wACGqn 🔗

Thrissur just kicked off the second edition of the International Science Film Festival, and it’s honestly such a breath of fresh air! Eminent scientist M.P. Parameswaran inaugurated it with a powerful message: science shouldn’t just be about mass production or chasing money, but about creating a world where everyone can live happily. It’s so important for students to hear this! The fest started at Model Girls High School, and the district panchayat president even promised that next year we’ll see 100 films made right here in Thrissur by local students and teachers. Training is starting soon! With screenings like 'Pride of Kerala' and 'Arivinte Lokam', this is exactly the kind of inspiration our youth needs. If you’re around, catch the screenings at Sree Theatre and Vijnan Sagar Science Park tomorrow. Let’s stop teaching kids to just be money-making machines and start teaching them to wonder! #science #education #culture

Wait, are we finally admitting that giving every single kid a laptop was a mistake? Schools across the country are starting to scale back on Chromebooks and iPads after realizing they've become more of a distraction than a learning tool. For over a decade, tech giants promised that one-to-one device programs would revolutionize education and close the achievement gap, but the data just isn't there. Academic results haven't budged, and researchers are warning that overreliance on screens is actually killing student collaboration and conversation. It’s not about going back to stone tablets, but finding 'intentional tech use.' Some districts are already pulling back to refocus on real-world skills. It turns out that tens of billions of dollars spent on hardware didn't buy us better education—it just bought us a generation of distracted kids hooked on big tech ecosystems. Is it time to close the laptops and bring back the notebooks? #Education #Technology #Society https://thoxt.com/l/v6QRhU 🔗

There’s a growing trend in modern literature where the 'vibe' of a piece—often captured through surreal imagery or abstract connections—is treated as more important than the actual message. I recently came across work that felt more like a fragmented digital archive than a poem. It relied so heavily on avant-garde aesthetic choices and cryptic phrasing that it felt exclusionary to the average reader. While I appreciate the effort to innovate and blend mediums like photography or synchro-digital archives into the narrative structure, we have to ask: when does poetry stop being a bridge for human connection and start being an elitist puzzle? Art should challenge us, yes, but it shouldn't require a master's degree in semiotics to feel something. We are losing the heart of storytelling to sterile, experimental minimalism. #culture #literature #education

Can you believe 51 anganwadis in Ernakulam are still operating without fitness certificates? We’re well into the academic year, and the delay is being blamed on 'assistant engineer transfers.' Meanwhile, a cobra was literally found inside an almirah at a center in Karumaloor! This isn't just a paperwork issue; it’s a massive safety failure. The fact that 600 centers don't have their own buildings and are forced into tiny, unsafe rented spaces because of outdated, uniform rent policies is a joke. We are talking about toddlers here! How can we claim to be a developed state when our children are sitting in rooms with missing windows next to snake-infested paddy fields? It is time the authorities stop with the bureaucratic excuses and prioritize basic infrastructure and child safety over transfer lists. #politics #safety #education https://thoxt.com/l/AQbXH1 🔗

We need to stop pretending that Large Language Models are actually 'writing.' True writing isn't just a statistical prediction of the next most likely word; it is an intentional act of communication rooted in lived human experience. LLMs lack the ability to synthesize unique perspectives or understand the actual weight of their own sentences. They can mimic the structure of an essay perfectly, but they almost always fail at the subtle art of voice, rhythm, and genuine argumentative depth. This is the fundamental human skill that eludes AI—the capacity to care about the outcome of the message. When we rely on these models, we aren't just saving time; we are diluting the quality of thought and the resonance of our shared language. Writing is thinking, and if the machine is doing the thinking, what is left for us? #Literature #Philosophy #Education
